Brother to Brother by Charles Manley Brown, published by Cedar Fort

What makes some friendships different then others? Why is it that some friends come and go and others are always there year after year? My theory is that we share history, growing experiences, fun and respect with certain friends. There is mutual loyalty and the relationship is important enought to both parties to work at continuing it. Some friendships are for life. In Brother to Brother, the whole book is built on the loyalty of a friendship between a Bishop of a Catholic Diocese and a member of the LDS Church's First Presidency.

When Bishop Patrick Donavan stumbles onto a strange manuscript - the first person that he turns to is his old friend Elder Anthony J. Ririe.

"Tony, I must see you immediately- confidentially and very privately. I'm onto something potentially devastating. Something that could directly affect the future well-being of your church and perhaps my own, as well."

Together they try to figure out how to handle this document and what steps to take next.

This book takes you into the day to day doings of the First Presidency of the LDS Church. It was very enlightening to follow the meetings and responsibilities that the General Authorities have. This book is a work of fiction and was set in the year 2020 so the reader would avoid thinking that there was any resemblance to today's current General Authorities and the characters in this book. It was an intriguing story and I found myself unable to put this book down until it was finished. It was a very believable storyline and I could imagine that this story could actually happen. Maybe it already has!
