Cover Up by Clair M. Poulson. Published by Covenant Communications, Inc.

Lauren Olcott loves her job—but more than one person at her company would like to see her gone—permanently.

Until a few days ago Lauren looked forward to a long career with Paradise Pharmaceuticals. But now after stumbling upon a scheme that would siphon millions of dollars into the pockets of corporate executives, she’s not sure she’ll live to see tomorrow.

As Lauren is thrown into a nightmare of terror, she frantically tries to email her boyfriend for help—but the message is directed to someone else. Now a man she hasn’t seen in more than a decade holds the key to her survival—and he’s thousands of miles away.

"When she'd finally dragged herself onto her chair and turned on her computer, she waited impatiently, then at last she had her e-mails in front of her. She scanned through them, and gasped in relief when she saw a reply to the one she'd sent entitled Help Me. She quickly opened it, only to gasp again. Her hands began to shake terribly. She broke into a heavy sweat. She rubbed her eyes in an attempt to clear them. She steadied herself to keep from falling from her chair. Then she read the reply she'd received a second time. "

Maybe I'm a little bitter. I wanted to go to Hawaii this year. I researched it, was excited about it, but just couldn't make it work out. Then I read this book that was set in Hawaii. It wasn't one of my favorites. I've read several books by Clair Poulson and loved them - but this one I just couldn't get into. Don't get me wrong - it was a really well-done story. It's suspenseful, thought provoking, exciting, and a mystery. The plot is intriguing and the book is researched well. And I've been studying the effects of drugs and narcotics on the human body so that part of this story was fascinating.

Mostly what I wasn't as happy with was the development of the main character. She is interesting, fascinating and a very strong person - until the other main character shows up - then she seems to wimp out. She's only twenty something and her whole family relationship is not realistic at all. I think it was just an excuse to have Lauren be alone with no one else to depend on. There is also a hint of romance - but it was not ended satisfactorily to my point of view. I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone else - just remember that I am bitter because I didn't get to go to Hawaii! If you don't need the romance in a book to make it work for you - and if you do love an exciting plot with lots of action - this book is for you!! I hope you will enjoy it.
