Code Red by Jennie Hansen. Published by Covenant Communications, Inc.

"When she was eleven, Nicole witnessed something horrible. However, she has been told enough times that the event could not have happened, that she believes it didn’t—almost.
Now Nicole has returned to her childhood neighborhood. But soon, even the smallest things trigger disturbing memories. Nicole must learn the truth. Was her father murdered, or did he really desert the army—and his family? As Nicole and her new friend lieutenant Braedon Morgan edge closer to the truth, they become the target of a desperate terrorist cell. Soon the pair is racing against the clock to stop an evil few from destroying thousands of innocent civilians. But after a lifetime of betrayals, can Nicole trust Braedon to help her expose the truth? Once again Jennie Hansen delivers solid emotional impact in a fast-paced tale complete with action, intrigue, and, suspense. "

Okay, books by Jennie Hansen are just good. In fact, I've read enough books by her - that when I see her name on a new book - I know I just have to read it. Code Red is no exception. Jennie Hansen tackles a subject that I haven't read about often in LDS fiction - the military.

This story has action, romance, intrigue, suspense, psychological trauma and if that isn't enough for you - it has terrorists too! The following paragraphs from Code Red are an example of the humor in the book, because anyone who has sat with a toddler in church will recognize this type of situation!!

"A commotion to his right distracted his attention. He glanced down to see a river of liquid spreading along the bench between him and a sobbing toddler who held a bottle in one hand and the nipple section in the other. The toddler's mother snatched a cloth from her shoulder in a frantic move to stanch the flow. The baby on her lap began to scream and wave his arms and legs, sending a plastic bowl of cold cereal flying to the floor and into the juice puddle.
Braedon could see there were only two honorable choices. He lifted the baby from the startled woman's arms and walked out the door to the foyer. The mother could do the cleaning."

This is a great book with lots of intriguing twists and turns - but everything ties up nicely at the end! Hopefully you will enjoy the ride as much as I did.
