Winter Fire by Rachel Ann Nunes. Published by Covenant Communications, Inc.

I am a fan of Rachel Nuness' books. Every one that I have read I have enjoyed. I especially like how she weaves the family connections of her series through several books. The result is that you always feel like you are meeting friends that you haven't seen in a while. But this author is also quite skilled at writing her books so that you don't feel like you are missing anything if you jump in at the middle of a series. She writes from each character's individual perspective, which always makes me think about how different we all are- and how we each have our own individual and very unique life.

Winter Fire is about Amanda Huntington, a schoolteacher who lives alone and is getting over a past relationship and Blake Simmons, an appliance repairman who is trying to go to school, hold down his job, and take care of 2 little kids who belong to his troubled and unstable cousin. He would really like to get married - but he doesn't even have time to date. A chance encounter throws the two together and they both try to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way.

This is a good book. It enlightens the reader about child custody and foster care. It emphasizes the importance of staying away from addictive substances and how these substances can ruin your life. And it teaches you to be grateful for what you have -- that family is more important than anything else. Another book well-done from Rachel Ann Nunes!!
